Why Is My Blender Not Turning On?

Like any other electric appliance, your blender may develop problems due to heavy or prolonged use.

Sometimes it doesn't work due to loose connections. So, before replacing with a new one or hiring a professional for repairs, you can do some simple tasks on your own.

Ways to Check If Your Blender won't Turn On?

Troubleshooting is the first thing you should do when your blender is not turning on. Troubleshooting helps you know whether your appliance is broken or just a minor issue that you can correct.

Figure out what the fault is. If you can identify the issue, you can also fix that—check the power connection, base, fuse, and motor to figure out the fault.

Here are a few measures you can do to help you identify the fault:

I.             Examine the Power Connectivity

First, inspect the power cable. It can be damaged due to various factors such as a shot, over-voltage, prolonged use, and so on.

It may appear to be fine from the outside, but it is unusable on the inside. To test the cable, use a tester. If you discover that the line is no longer serviceable, you must replace it.

 

The power cord is connected to the circuit board inside the base. As a result, you must remove the base's bottom cover.

 By following a few simple steps, you can replace the power cable.

 

1.            Before performing this repair, place it in a dry and suitable location and disconnect it from all power sources

 

2.            Using the appropriate tools, remove the base cover. Improper tools may cause the screws to break.

 

3.            You can solder the power cable with a soldering iron. After that, solder the new line in the exact location where the previous one was soldered.

 

4.            Place the base in a secure location and connect the power cable to a power source.   Put the cover on if everything is fine. Congratulations, you've completed the task!

 

Check the switches if the power cable is fine, but the device is still not working. A multimeter is required for this.

Disconnect the power, then place the multimeter's two probes on two terminals of a switch. Then, toggle the switch to the ON position.

The switch is in good working order if the meter displays a low reading. On the other hand, if the meter displays no reading or an infinite value, the switch is rendered inoperable. It would help if you replaced it.

2.            Check the Motor

If your blender doesn't turn on at all, it could be due to an utterly burned-out motor. Replacing the motor is a more advanced repair; unplug the blender before beginning. Flip the base over and unscrew the bottom cover to access the motor.

Remove the inside cover, also known as a motor platform, by unscrewing it. Pull the motor out carefully, and consult your owner's manual to determine which wires to desolder to remove the motor. Depending on the model, you may also need wire cutters to disconnect a motor wire from the circuit board or motor cap. Install your new motor by soldering the same cables that you just disconnected to it.

3.            Check the Base

A blender base is also referred to as a collar, seat, or container base.

In rare cases, the base must activate a safety switch, either a micro or a magnetic switch.

If the base is damaged and the switch cannot be activated, it should be replaced. This is a simple repair; remember to unplug the blender before beginning.

Remove the blade assembly by unscrewing the container base from the jar. Screw the new base onto the jar and replace the blade assembly.

4.            Lookout if the Fuse is burned.

 

Many blender models are built with internal fuses. It will not start if your blender contains a faulty or burned-out fuse. The fuse is most likely located inside the appliance's bottom base. Open the base and look for the fuse using your owner's manual as a guide.

 

Appliance fuses are very cheap and straightforward to replace. If the fuse is damaged, you can usually tell by looking at it. You can check for electrical continuity with a multimeter, to be specific. If the fuse circuit is open, the fuse has blown and must be replaced. Replace the fuse with one that has the same rating as the damaged one.

5.            Are your Blender Blades functioning?

 

Your blender's blades can only handle so much. And if you're not adequately cleaning your blender after each use, you might have some gunk buildup that's causing the blades to stop turning.

 Remove the base assembly and the blade assembly that hold the blender's glass. Remove any buildup accumulated around the blades or inside the casing that houses the edges carefully and thoroughly. Reassemble the blender, plug it in, and try it again.

 

Be aware that jammed blades can cause your motor to overwork. This can fail a motor or the blowing of an internal fuse. Make sure you thoroughly clean your blender after each use.

6.            Not following the Safety Precautions of your Blender

Like any other electronic equipment, your blender has some safety features.

 

If you follow them, you will get consistent service for a long duration. It's highly recommended you follow them strictly. Some of the safety measures to adhere to are:

•             Read the manual before using your blender

•             The base holds all the electrical parts, so never submerge it in water.

•             Keep the bottom of your blender dry if you have to clean, then use a damp piece of cloth.

•             Don't blend hot liquids unless you are sure your blender jar can handle that.

•             Use each blade and jar for specific use.

•             Clean your blender after every use.
